Better work creates a better world
Our principles
Our values are made operational through our principles; these principles serve as the framework for our daily management and organizational practices in KnowledgeWorker. Together, the values and the principles form our cooperative foundation.
The motivation for getting engaged in KnowledgeWorker as a cooperative business, is primarily about creating value in one's own professional life. Within the framework of the company, the partners have the opportunity to fulfill the needs they may have for their working life, whether it is monetary ambitions, entrepreneurial dreams, a social community, doing meaningful projects, a well balanced work-life distribution or similar. Together we help each other realize our individual goals and secure financial sustainability for one another. We believe that community strengthens the individual and we therefore are stronger when we support one another.
KnowledgeWorker is a democratic organization where the partners both have the right and obligation to participate actively in decision making. We are organized according to the principle of one partner, one vote. All the owners have equal opportunity to make proposals and shape the company's overall direction, value base, distribution of risks, profits and losses. The democratic participation is also a part of our everyday life, including day-to-day discussions and decisions, the informal conversations at the coffee machine, and our weekly Monday meetings, where the tasks and challenges of the week are shared and discussed. We believe this is the solid foundation for a sustainable, democratic company.
KnowledgeWorker was created to make our dreams, hopes and wishes come true. As a cooperative, we are an independent company, governed by the tenor of our democracy. We believe that a central premise for creating innovative and sustainable solutions is an open democratic dialogue and an exchange of knowledge among different professions, values, and beliefs. That's why we value being a self-directed and independent company.
A cooperative business community stands better and stronger by collaborating, both locally, nationally and internationally. This is an articulation of the solidarity on which the cooperative movement is based. Cooperatives sustain one another both as companies, but also in common interest organizations.
We know that the best opportunity for us to achieve our full potential is by working together. By doing this, we contribute to creating mutual prosperity and success for ourselves and other cooperative companies. By standing together and acting jointly, we advance ourselves as well.
Principle 1:
Voluntary and open ownership - more diversity less inequality
A truly sustainable society requires a business community that works to reduce inequality by actively promoting diversity. This is why we offer everyone an opportunity for ownership, and a position as a partner, on equal terms. With ownership comes both rights and obligations, which are equal for all partners. Cooperatives, like KnowledgeWorker, are based on the partners' free choice to be part of the company. To become a partner in KnowledgeWorker, you need to be willing to co-create a community of professionals who support an equal and equitable agenda in business.
As a partner in KnowledgeWorker, you take part in harvesting and managing the fruits of work done by the collective community. A community that has been built over time, by those who were part of the company prior to you. You must take part in the financial responsibility and the risks of running a business. This creates an incentive to take good care of KnowledgeWorker, to cooperate alongside your fellow partners and show solidarity, since your financial success is connected 1-to-1 with the rest of the community's overall efforts. We believe this helps ensure creativity and quality in the services we develop, produce and deliver together.
As a cooperative, we are responsible for providing you information about our cooperative values and principles, as well as our democratic practices. We believe that a common baseline is the best and most effective way for our members to contribute to a constructive development of the company. Being a partner it is also required that you take responsibility for your own professional development. It is expected that you continuously improve your professional skills, both for the benefit of the company, as well as your career. An important part of our work is to pass on knowledge about cooperative businesses to the public. We do this primarily through lectures and workshops. Our vision for the cooperative movement is for cooperative businesses to be recognized as frontrunners of economic, social and environmental sustainability.
At KnowledgeWorker, we are responsible for contributing to the sustainable development of our local community. Therefore, we attain our own, internal interests
while at the same time examining what’s best for society surrounding us.
We want to take part in making a significant impact and change in the way we utilize and distribute the planet's wealth. By creating better conditions for entrepreneurs and other people who would otherwise have been wage workers, we contribute to the individual's sense of self worth and freedom. We believe that by obtaining latitude and satisfaction in your own working life, you will also have a greater motivation and desire to create a good and dignified life for those around you.
